What are those signs?

If you’re wondering about the “Landmark Designation Proposed” signs in front of approximately 20 University Park properties, they indicate that the property posted is
eligible to be included in the proposed University Park Historic District. They are scattered around the neighborhood since this is a noncontiguous, or thematic district. 

The history of each property had to meet a high bar to qualify, and each relates to our early founders and developers, our origins with DU and Methodism, or architecture which was at the forefront of design at the time. Together these properties tell the story of our development as a “college town within a city.”

The next step in the official process will consideration of the designation application by Landmark Preservation Commission members on Mar. 5, by Planning Board on Mar. 6, and by City Council for a final vote on approval on Apr. 8. See below for more information:
